What is the All Saints Church Time Bank?

All Saints Church is a place where people are encouraged to strive for health and wholeness in their lives and in the lives of their brothers and sisters everywhere.  It is a place where we are committed to “making God’s love tangible 24/7.”  The All Saints Church Time Bank takes these words to heart, making love tangible in our church community by the simple acts of giving and receiving. The All Saints Church Time Bank is an economy without money.    It offers the All Saints community a way both to give and to receive time and talent as we respond to each others’ needs, building connections and community.

Here’s what happens:

You give an hour of help.  You earn one time dollar.   The person receiving the help owes one time dollar.   You pay back by helping someone else.   The Time Bank is an opportunity for the community of All Saints to support each other in a new way.

It’s about creating circles of giving and receiving. It’s that simple.    Yet it has profound effects.   New ways of relating to each other happen.     New friendships are formed.    It’s a new adventure, because a Time Bank is a system that connects unmet needs with untapped resources.

Helping works better as a two-way street. How can I help you?” needs to change so we ask:  “How can we help each other build the world we both will live in?”

“In community we work out our connectedness to God, to one another and to ourselves.    We find out who we are.    Alone I am what I am, but in community I have the chance to become everything that I can be.”
